Fisher Body #21

Fisher Body #21 1

The 600,000 square foot Fisher Body #21 was constructed in 1919, the same year General Motors took a 60% stake in Fisher Body. The plant was designed by Smith, Hinchman & Grylls.  It closed in 1993 and sat abandoned for decades but is currently scheduled for environmental cleanup and redevelopment.

Packard Plant

Packard Plant 1

The first buildings on the site of the Packard Plant were built in 1903.  They were designed by legendary architect Albert Khan with help from his brother Julius, who provided engineering input.  Operations at the plant ceased in 1956, after which a series of smaller industrial companies were tenants.
