Northampton State Hospital – January 14, 2006

We arrived at NoHo to find the campus shrouded in fog. We worked our way through the North Infirmary before entering the main part of the Kirkbride for the first time. I remember very clearly opening the door and the building “breathing” out on us. This happened most of the times I visited, and made the place seem alive. As the first place I ever explored, the whole process was very excited and we were very nervous about being caught, running in to other people, falling through a floor, etc. Every noise, and the building made an awful lot of noises for an abandoned structure, brought us to full attention.

More photos from the North Infirmary are featured in my first trip to the hospital.
