Cape Cod Ξ Polaris Eternal
IMG_6383.jpg

One of my first star trail photos. The composition on this one could be better, but it was tricky not to include some other objects around that I didn't want in the scene. I took this shot mostly as a test, since it was relatively dark where I was staying and I wanted to see how well an exposure over 10 minutes would come out (this is 20 minutes). As luck would have it, Polaris (the North Star, the star in the center of the circle which does not move) was in the frame.

I definitely want to experiment with this technique some more. I have the Canon timer remote, so I need to play with stacking multiple exposures to get rid of the noise. The noise on this shot was pretty bad, and another exposure that was 40 minutes was unusable. I was glad, though, to get a night shot I was actually somewhat happy with. I used to shoot at night almost exclusively and I haven't had a lot of luck lately. This is also getting back into some surreal photography, which I have also missed doing but have not been that successful with since I've been shooting digital...more to come on that front for sure...
