Richmond had been on my "must explore" list since I started going in abandoned buildings. We had arranged to meet up with some locals to explore the place as the last destination on a 4 day road trip before heading back to Massachusetts. My companions were somewhat anxious to get home and hoped that we could spend a good 4 hours or so at Richmond before heading out. I knew we would be frantically trying to photograph the structure for at least 6 hours and still wouldn't see everything, and in the end I was right.
We returned to find my car broken in to and my radio stolen. Oddly, the thieves seemed to have seen my out of state plates and left me my GPS despite stealing an ipod that was right next to it. If only they could have just broken a window and not damaged the paint of my car I wouldn't have even been that upset. Nonetheless, they missed the netbook containing all the photographs one of my friends had taken during the road trip and that was really all I cared about. It was hard to even be too upset after the incredible adventure we had.
