Packard Plant Ξ Scrappers Ruin

Believe it or not, this was once an enclosed area. I actually walked across this same bridge about a year before I took this picture, and all around the bridge was an enclosed room. I remember it distinctly, because there was actually a drop ceiling hung, ridiculously, below the bridge but with the wires to support the ceiling running up to the roof a couple stories above the bridge. It just seemed an insane way to do things...

In any case, unfortunately my pictures from the previous year are too dark to really post, but this was definitely an enclosed room. Scrappers cut the supports that were holding up the ceiling and then used a truck to yank them out. The brazenness and ingenuity of Detroit's scrapping community is clearly not to be underestimated.
