Each ward had an enclosed area outside for the patients to use. I have certainly seen locked porches for patients to get fresh air before, but being right on ground level made the ones at this hospital feel particularly like cages. Being in them made me think of being in a kennel more than being in a hospital where human beings were treated.

I have been shooting a ton of panos lately. This shot doesn't even seem like a pano would be required, but it is actually 4 images in one. I think this is partially a reaction to my shooting this winter. Even after starting to force myself to use my wide angle lens at The Pines, I still felt like my shooting was boxed in a bit. Sometimes the panos allow me to give a better sense of what it felt like to be there.
